Chardon Shooter: David Icke Finally Gets People Killed
I was surprised it took this long. The newest high school shooting in the US, done by a troubled teenager, looks like your typical ones. But this dude TJ Lane wasn't, in his case, motivated by "satanism" or "rock music", like some like to imagine previous shooters have been; he was motivated, if his Facebook page is any indication, by the writing of new-age author David Icke.
Icke is scum, he promulgates the old anti-semitic conspiracy theories only since he's not allowed to do that anymore, has replaced "the world is run by evil jews and everyone in power is a secret jew" for "the world is run by evil lizard people and everyone in power is a secret lizardperson".His books are a combination of new age drivel about energy, pseudo-theosophic mythology about ancient atlantis and conspiracy nonsense about the great white race being subverted by evil satanic pedophilic reptile-men who control all the normal people with mind control drugs, illusion and men in black.
I first became aware of Icke's garbage some 15 years ago, when I was working in an occult bookstore. I couldn't believe that people could take this seriously. It was literally offensive to me as a thinking human being. And yet, the motherfucker has probably sold millions of books. And I remember thinking, even back then, that this guy's bullshit, left uncontested, was seriously dangerous; that a slightly paranoid or otherwise mentally unwell person could read these books and turn them into a trigger to go waste a bunch of people in a public place. The books have all the ingredients: the world is fucked and its not your fault (the lizards are to blame), your teachers and other people in the middle ranks of authority are just fools, everyone else are just blind sheep, and you're one of the few special people who knows "the truth". The fact is that 99% of new agers clearly don't really believe this stupid shit (nor, I think, does Icke himself, given that he's leading a very relaxed life of a wealthy and successful new age author), or else they'd all be either killing themselves or killing others. The fact that it took 15 years for my prediction to come to pass is just proof of how many people don't even actually believe in what they claim to believe.
Thus far, the major media outlets have failed to pick up on this detail about Lane, possibly because they don't get the significance of who Icke is or how his writings could have motivated the boy, who listed Icke as his "favorite philosopher" and cited his job as "Free the slaves" (an Icke reference).

I haven't seen the Icke connection mentioned. I read a lot of Icke's stuff, because he's worried me in the past too, for just this kind of reason. However, I think the kid was just nuts.
The article I've linked to below this shows a post he made at the end of December. It's a poem, but the Daily Beast formatted it like prose.

When it comes to Icke's followers causing big time trouble...it's only a matter of time. I don't think this kid was going after reptilians.
A nutcase who wants to do harm badly enough will find an excuse, sure; but some things are just like offering loaded guns to nutcases. If these things have some other redeeming feature, or are otherwise useful, that's one thing. But if they are really just garbage, that's a different story.
After every school shooting, every book, song, or film the accused has ever enjoyed is scrutinized as being "dangerous" by people like you who obviously had a problem with them long before the event ever took place. After Columbine, Christian leaders were using the accused's taste for Marilyn Manson to further their anti-rock music agenda. You are aware of this, as is made clear by the reference in the beginning of your post to people imagining a rock music inspiration behind previous bloodbaths. You're no different in attempting to use the Chardon event as propaganda in your drive to bash "conspiracy theories" -- specifically, conspiracy author David Icke.
As you've admitted, you already seriously disliked Icke and his work before the shooting ever occurred. However, it's obvious you've never read much of his work. You'd know that his message is one of peace, non-violence, and unconditional love, even toward those he accuses of being part of the Illuminati conspiracy. Whether or not the accused was prompted to act by David Icke's book, he was obviously not acting in accordance with Icke's message. If I was so upset after reading your terrible blog post that I attacked my school or my place of occupation, would you be to blame? If so, for what use is western belief in freedom of speech? Should the constitutions of our countries be amended so that they will only protect freedom of positive speech? Should the highlighting of problems (real or perceived) be outlawed because they might dangerously upset someone?
You call new-age theories "drivel" and conspiracy theories as "nonsense", revealing much about your attitude toward that which is outside of the mainstream belief system. You further parrot the lie that the term "reptilian" is a substitute for "Jews". This is flatly untrue. There exists no evidence for it in Icke's work. It was investigated by journalist Jon Ronson, who was an impartial observer to Icke and a witness to both him, his allies, and his opposition. This experience dominated a chapter in his book, Them: Adventures With Extremists. He concluded that when Icke said "lizards", he actually meant lizards. If you look elsewhere, you'll find that Icke has stated that he has a great respect for the Jewish people. Is he lying? Simply stating that he means "Jews" when he says "Lizards" is unsubstantiated, slanderous speculation that finds no support in any of Icke's works. This assertion was first made as a smear by advocates of the State of Israel, which Icke does severely criticize. Surely, you aren't one of those who suggests that a criticism against Israel is racist?
Furthermore, you make the completely false claim that Icke believes that the "great white race" was subverted by the reptilians, implying that he is a racist. Not only is this a complete misinterpretation of Icke's ideas, but it flies in the face of his published statements and beliefs. The following statement can be found on Icke's website:
"Racism is the ultimate ignorance in that it relates 'self' to the body instead of the Consciousness - Awareness - animating and experimenting through the body. It is like judging a man by his spacesuit instead of the person inside it."
Furthermore, Icke's message of peace and unconditional love flies in the face of your following argument:
"The fact is that 99% of new agers clearly don't really believe this stupid shit (nor, I think, does Icke himself, given that he's leading a very relaxed life of a wealthy and successful new age author), or else they'd all be either killing themselves or killing others. The fact that it took 15 years for my prediction to come to pass is just proof of how many people don't even actually believe what they claim to believe."
No one who truly believed in Icke's message would want to "kill others" or even themselves. If Icke did so, he would not be staying true to what, he himself, has written. Thus, your argument here is ridiculous and without base -- again. And you call alternative theories about the universe and history "nonsense" and "drivel"!
I've only addressed your attacks on Icke, and don't intend to debate with you his ideas (unless you wish to). I'd simply leave you with something my cousin said:
"Not every conspiracy is a theory."
On this note, I believe we should study the event at Chardon High School with an open mind. This may have been more like Columbine than we think.
