Hey Pundit, I'm from Europe and I have a couple of friends living in the US. They just pointed me to this: http://hotdogfactory.blogspot.com/2008/10/country-first-john-mccain-is_13.html

And apparently, there a staggering amount of story about that. See http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=mccain+throwing+the+election&btnG=Google+Search&aq=1&oq=mccain+thr

    Any thought on that ?

No, I don't think McCain was throwing the election. I think, on the contrary, he wanted to win it so badly, that he sold out everything he was as a human being in the attempt.
The argument that he ran to lose on purpose makes no logical sense if you actually stop to think about it.

I was in Grant Park, Chicago, when the deal was sealed.  If the rest of the world feels just one tenth of how it felt to there, as a participant, history will be made.

    Our reasoning are :

    - True conservatives are disgusted by what Bush did to the country. And one of my friends believes that the only way to retake the party is to loose this time and rebuilt their strength from the ground up. Use this defeat as a way to cleanse the party.

    - The Rep. don't want to clean the mess of W. Their thinking is to let Obama and the Dem. try their best and then have the 'true' conservative do a come back in 2012.

    - And a friend (more knowledgable than me on this account) think that McCain did it out of revenge regarding what happened in 2000 between Bush, the party and himeself.

And when you think of all of the late gaffe and specially choosing Palin, this makes me wonder a little bit.

But Obama had a splendid victory and from my small country in old Europe I was moved by all the reactions, the joy of the people. This is truly history.

    They did it.

I think the "McCain Lost on Purpose" theory is about as stupid as the old "Kerry lost on purpose cause he was a Bonesman like Bush" theory.  Maybe moreso even, because at least in the latter you have a sinister secret society in the works...
